Ben

Hello, I’m Ben.

I am a Registered Nurse with over 16 years nursing and healthcare experience including over 9 years in the British Army. I began working as a Healthcare Support Worker at the age of 18 and realised that I loved caring for people, so later studied Adult Nursing at Sheffield Hallam University. After leaving the Army in 2019, I worked full time in an NHS Trust and was quickly promoted from Senior Staff Nurse to Charge Nurse.

After completing my Award in Education and Training in 2021 I began delivering training and reduced to working part-time in the NHS. Since becoming a part of Caring For Care team I have enjoyed meeting and training hundreds of individuals. I endeavour to have a positive effect on the recipient of care, promoting the highest standard and best outcome for them; I believe this is achieved by quality training that improves knowledge and confidence of healthcare workers, whilst encouraging a curiosity and interest in the subject.

Favourite Film: The Departed

Favourite Music: ACDC. Lionel Richie.

Hobbies: Fitness. Mountaineering. BJJ.

Toni

Hi – I’m Toni,

I have dedicated most of my working career in Health and Social Care with experience in a variety of different settings, including children’s services, adult care and supporting people with additional needs in their own homes. I have a range of Health and Social Care qualifications and possess teaching qualifications which allows me to teach, train and also assess vocational achievement. Most recently I am proud to have obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Sciences and am considering my future learning in Clinical Psychology.

The really important stuff:

Favourite film: – Anything with Leonardo DiCaprio, in my opinion he was well overdue an Oscar before the showdown with the bear. Man on Fire with Denzel Washington still makes me cry despite watching it close to 100 times. Shawshank Redemption never gets boring either.

Favourite music: This is too hard, I love anything from Fleetwood Mac to Stormzy. A bit of Dolly Parton or The Streets. I will rock out to Metallica or bop along to George Ezra. You’ll find me singing my heart out to Pink, I’ll vibe to The Verve and shuffle to a bit of Madness. I’ll pretend I’m Taylor Swift and I can rap just like Eminem. Give me a bit of Motown or Elton John. I just like music 😂

Hobbies: I want to walk all 214 Wainwright Hills in the Lake District, currently on 97, with Helvelyn being my favourite walk so far. I love to ski and snowboard and to go camping and paddleboarding. I like my holidays and am looking forward to traveling Asia, can’t wait to see what Thailand and Bali have to offer.

I am an enthusiastic all round social science teacher. I have two degree’s. One in health and social care, and a joint honors degree in Human rights and sociology. I also studied Psychology at Level 4.

I first started teaching as a singing teacher, but my interests swiftly shifted to a classroom setting to align with my academic achievements. I have been teaching for the last 7 years, students of all ages and levels. From level 1  through to level 5 BTEC Health and social care qualifications.  I’ve also been a personal tutor for adults and younger students. Supporting them to achieve their targets and looking at ways to achieve excellent grades.

I thoroughly enjoy and gain much satisfaction seeing my students develop as individuals and academically to progress to university.

I have up to 15 years industrial experience working in mainly the Social care setting with different client groups and as a Supported Housing manager. This greatly informs my teaching, where I’m able to draw from practical experience.

I am a enthusiastic teacher and my lessons are often full of learning, discussions and laughter at times. Drawing from current events to enhance discussion and learning, directly from the curriculum.

Claire

Hi I’m Claire

I’m from sunny Devon, a children’s nurse, clinical educator, first aid trainer, student nutritional therapist and NLP coach. I love to learn and share my learning with others. I have worked with children since graduating from Cardiff University in 2005.

I’ve worked in hospital settings including PICU, and community settings including managing care packages for children with complex needs. In my last role as a clinical educator, I went back to uni to gain a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership and a PGCert in Clinical education. My specialist areas are paediatric care including tracheostomy, ventilation, first aid and caring for the child with complex needs. I’ve written an article on BLS for the individual with an altered body shape that was published in Nursing Children and Young People last year. I believe this is a topic that needs to be talked about more as we see more people living with complex needs. Since leaving the NHS in 2019 I’ve gone back to university to undertake an MSc in Personalised Nutrition to become a nutritional therapist, as I’ve seen how having a good diet impacts health and wellbeing and I want to help others in learning that too. Working with Caring for Care allows me to teach the clinical skills I enjoy and still study.

Favourite film: I love musicals and you’ll see me singing along!

Favourite music artist: this is a difficult one for me as I enjoy listening to different types of music! A couple of my favourite experiences were seeing Lauren Daigle in concert in Paris and the last concert Adele did at Wembley.

Hobbies: I enjoy sewing, baking, time with the husband, and training for triathlons.
