- In one study, 85% of staff finished Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training and showed they could use the skills both in class and at work. [Karola Dillenburger]
- Another study showed that staff knowledge got much better. Before training, scores were 26%. At 16 weeks after training, they went up to 74%, and by 20 weeks, they reached 95%.
2. Effect on Challenging Behaviour
- One study found that 56% of people with challenging behaviour improved after staff did PBS training. Another study also showed that challenging behaviour went down after 3 months. [PUBMED]
- But one study said that while behaviour got better, the person’s quality of life did not improve after 6 months.
3. Staff Confidence and Support
- After training, 94% of school leaders and teachers felt more confident in dealing with poor behaviour. Also, 96% felt they could help children understand how to behave better.
- Still, 52% of teachers said that support from school leaders made a big difference in how well they managed difficult behaviour.
4. Use in Organisations
- 90% of schools kept records on pupil behaviour. 83% used this information to help manage behaviour in the school.
- These results show that PBS training can help, but results may not be the same in every place. More research and better training will help staff give even better support to people with challenging behaviour. [Government Social Research, 2023]
