Course Summary

• Roles and responsibilities of a first aider – Understand what’s expected of you when responding to workplace incidents.
• CPR and defibrillation – Learn how to deliver effective CPR and safely use an AED.
• Managing an unresponsive casualty – Know how to assess and support someone who isn’t responding.
• Recovery Position – Safely place a casualty in the recovery position to protect their airway.
• Choking – Recognise choking and apply the correct techniques to clear the airway.
• Burns and scalds – Treat minor and severe burns quickly and correctly at workplace.
• Wounds, bleeding and shock – Control bleeding and manage signs of shock.
• Broken bones, fractures and dislocations – Provide initial support for suspected fractures and joint injuries.
• Seizures and epilepsy – Respond safely and confidently when someone experiences a seizure.
• Anaphylaxis – Identify severe allergic reactions and administer appropriate first aid.
• Asthma – Support someone having an asthma attack using recognised first aid steps.
• Stroke – Spot the signs of stroke and act fast using the FAST approach.
• Heart attack – Recognise symptoms early and provide immediate first aid support.
• Minor injuries – Treat everyday workplace injuries such as cuts, grazes and bruises.
