What are the 3 levels of autism?

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has three levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. These levels show how much support someone needs based on their symptoms.

Level 1: People with mild symptoms may need help in areas like talking to others and certain behaviors. This level was previously referred to as “high-functioning autism” or “Asperger’s syndrome.”

Level 2: People with more significant symptoms need more support. They might find it hard to communicate and interact with others, and they may have more repetitive behaviors.

Level 3: People with severe symptoms need a lot of support. They may struggle to communicate and interact, and they may have very repetitive behaviors. Intellectual abilities can range from below average to intellectual disability.

It’s important to know that these levels are just a general guide, and everyone is different. Some people with Level 1 ASD might need more support than others with Level 2 ASD.

We will touch more on this during the autism training.
