I am a Registered Nurse with over 16 years nursing and healthcare experience including over 9 years in the British Army. I began working as a Healthcare Support Worker at the age of 18 and realised that I loved caring for people, so later studied Adult Nursing at Sheffield Hallam University. After leaving the Army in 2019, I worked full time in an NHS Trust and was quickly promoted from Senior Staff Nurse to Charge Nurse.
After completing my Award in Education and Training in 2021 I began delivering training and reduced to working part-time in the NHS. Since becoming a part of Caring For Care team I have enjoyed meeting and training hundreds of individuals. I endeavour to have a positive effect on the recipient of care, promoting the highest standard and best outcome for them; I believe this is achieved by quality training that improves knowledge and confidence of healthcare workers, whilst encouraging a curiosity and interest in the subject.

In my last role as a clinical educator, I went back to uni to gain a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership and a PGCert in Clinical education. My specialist areas are paediatric care including tracheostomy, ventilation, first aid and caring for the child with complex needs. I believe this is a topic that needs to be talked about more as we see more people living with complex needs. Since leaving the NHS in 2019 I’ve gone back to university to undertake an MSc in Personalised Nutrition to become a nutritional therapist, as I’ve seen how having a good diet impacts health and wellbeing and I want to help others in learning that too. People sometime ask me when I started training. Well, I was 9 or 10 years old when I joined the St. John Ambulance Brigade and began teaching the junior cadets when I was in my teens. I was appointed as Superintendent of the SJAB, Brighouse and Rastrick Division, eventually becoming the Chief Nursing Officer for the whole of Calderdale.
