FAQs
Confine Space Training Course FAQs
Contact UsWho is the confined space training for?
Any employer or employee having to work in confined areas.
What are the legal requirements for working in confined spaces in the UK?
For companies in the UK, there are rules called the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997. These rules require employers to check the risks of confined spaces and take steps to control them. Employers must also provide training and equipment to keep workers safe when they go into confined spaces.
How long is confined space training?
Half a day at Caring for Care.
How many people can attend one session?
We can teach up to 12 people in a single training session. If you have a bigger group, we can either have more trainers on the same day or split the training into multiple days to ensure everyone gets trained properly.
What equipment is used on confined space courses?
Confined space courses teach workers how to stay safe while working in tight spaces. At Caring for Care we teach different kinds of techniques and equipment to do this, such as gas detectors, special clothes and masks to protect the body, hoists to move people and air tanks to breathe in case of an emergency. The type of equipment used depends on the course and the kind of confined space being talked about.
What is a confined space?
Confined spaces are small areas that can be difficult to enter and exit. They are not designed for people to stay in for a long time and can be unsafe for workers who enter them.
Confined Space Training Overview:
The confined space awareness training program encompasses an overview of current legislation requirement, identification of confined spaces, awareness of associated risks and hazards, and the utilization of gas detection equipment in hazardous atmospheres.
It provides instructions on the proper use of personal protective equipment, including ropes, harnesses, and man riding hoists, as well as the use of escape breathing apparatus.
Participants will learn how to check the equipment before entering confined spaces and understand the safe ways to enter and work in those spaces. They will also learn how to communicate effectively while in those spaces and the number of people needed to safely work in those spaces.
Aims and objectives of the training
Specifically designed to provide delegates with an understanding of the dangers of confined
spaces. You will be able to:
- Identify when a space is a “Confined Space”.
- Have an appreciation of the types of hazards which may be encountered when working in Confined Spaces.
- Have an understanding of what is required in a Safe System of Work, including rescue.
