Tracheostomy Trainer Course FAQs
1. What Will You Learn as a Tracheostomy Trainer?
You will learn how to teach safe tracheostomy care, demonstrate key procedures, and guide staff through emergencies. The course builds your communication, presentation, and feedback skills while helping you design training materials and lead micro‑teaching sessions. You’ll leave confident in delivering clear, practical, and effective in‑house tracheostomy training.
2. What Are the Prerequisites for Participants?
Participants should have experience in healthcare or social care settings where tracheostomy care is provided. A basic understanding of tracheostomy procedures is recommended, ideally gained through an introductory awareness course.
Training in areas such as infection control, health and safety, or basic life support also helps ensure readiness for trainer‑level responsibilities.
3. Does Caring for Care Offer Onsite Training?
Yes. The course can be delivered onsite, allowing teams to train together using familiar equipment and real‑world scenarios. Onsite delivery supports consistent practice, reduces travel costs, and offers flexible scheduling.
Organisations also benefit from tailored content, group discounts, and the ability to develop multiple trainers at once.
4. Can Anyone Teach Tracheostomy Awareness?
No. Trainers must have relevant clinical experience and complete a Train the Trainer programme to ensure they can deliver safe, accurate, and compliant training. They also need strong communication skills, an understanding of safeguarding, and the ability to adapt teaching for different staff roles and learning needs.
5. When Should This Tracheostomy Trainer Certificate Be Refreshed?
The certificate should be refreshed every two to three years, or sooner if clinical guidelines, equipment, or organisational policies change. Regular refreshers ensure trainers remain confident, compliant, and up to date with best practice. Certificates are valid for three years and must be renewed upon expiry.
6. Does the Course Cover Adult Teaching Styles and Communication Techniques?
Yes. The course includes adult learning principles, presentation skills, and communication techniques to help trainers deliver clear, engaging sessions. You’ll learn how to adapt content for different learners, use interactive methods, and build confidence through structured delivery and micro‑teaching practice.
7. Why Is the Course 2 Days and Not 1 Day?
Two days are required to cover both the clinical knowledge and the teaching skills needed to deliver credible training. This format allows time for demonstrations, micro‑teaching, peer feedback, and deeper exploration of compliance and safety standards. Only the Trainer Refresher course is completed in one day.
At Caring for Care, we focus on developing real, hands‑on skills that prepare people to deliver safe, effective care in their day‑to‑day roles.
8. Is the Course Delivered Face to Face or Virtual?
This course is primarily delivered face to face due to the essential hands‑on elements, including teaching suctioning practice, equipment handling, and emergency simulations. However, virtual delivery may be considered for certain in‑house group bookings where appropriate.
Refresher courses can be completed either face to face or virtually, depending on organisational needs and learner preference. For individual bookings, face‑to‑face delivery is the available option.
9. Why Book This Course With Caring for Care?
Choosing Caring for Care means investing in reliable, practical training that strengthens staff competence, supports compliance, and enhances the overall quality and safety of care across your service.

Our courses align with CQC and NICE standards, use small class sizes for personalised support, and include a 49% trainer‑pack discount plus free learner resources, all within a highly conducive learning environment.
10. What’s the Difference Between This Course and AET Level 3?
The Tracheostomy Train the Trainer course is a clinical, skills‑based programme focused on teaching delegates how to deliver safe tracheostomy training, demonstrate procedures, run simulations, and assess staff competence. It blends subject knowledge with practical teaching skills specific to tracheostomy care.
The AET Level 3, however, is a general teaching qualification that covers broad principles of adult education, lesson planning, assessment methods, and classroom delivery. It does not teach clinical content or prepare someone to train others in tracheostomy care.
As I have told others... It is the best, most informative training I have ever attended
