What Is the 16 Standards of Care Certificate?
The “16 standards of care certificate” refers to the Care Certificate—a nationally recognised framework for the health and social care workforce. In March 2025, the certificate was updated to include a 16th standard: Awareness of Learning Disability and Autism, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to inclusive, person-centred care.
The Care Certificate ensures that new staff begin with consistent, foundational knowledge and skills to deliver safe, compassionate support. Topics range from understanding your role and duty of care to safeguarding, communication, and health and safety.
