Who Is This Teaching Course For?
The train the trainer peg feeding is designed for experienced healthcare professionals who are already competent in PEG and enteral feeding and hold a valid PEG feeding certificate. It is ideal for nurses, senior carers, team leaders, and clinical educators responsible for delivering compliant, high‑quality in‑house training across hospitals, care homes, and home‑care settings.
It is specifically for staff who need to train others on how to safely manage PEG tubes for feeding and medication administration. This includes teaching techniques, assessment methods, organising and managing a classroom, and coordinating learning effectively.
The course supports organisations in meeting compliance requirements while building internal training capacity, enabling trainers to educate staff or family members and ensuring consistent, safe, and high‑quality care for individuals requiring enteral nutrition.
PEG Feeding Trainer FAQS
1. How long is the peg feeding train the trainer?
The PEG Feeding Train the Trainer course is a 2‑day programme covering the essential clinical knowledge of PEG feeding alongside the teaching skills needed to train others safely and confidently.
Across both days, learners complete theory, practical demonstrations, communication and presentation development, assessment practice, and a structured micro‑teach to prepare them for delivering compliant in‑house training.
2. What will I be able to do after completing the course?
This training equips experienced healthcare staff with the skills, knowledge, and teaching techniques needed to deliver compliant PEG feeding training within their organisation. You’ll be able to deliver safe, compliant PEG feeding training, assess learner competence, create training materials, and support staff or family members in providing high‑quality PEG care.
3. Do I need prior PEG feeding experience?
Yes. You must already be trained and competent in PEG feeding before progressing to trainer‑level instruction. The course is designed to support compliance with UK health and safety guidance, including CQC expectations and best‑practice recommendations for PEG care, so existing competence is essential. You can check out a peg feeding refresher course if you annual refreshers are already due.
4. How Is the Course Assessed?
Assessment is carried out through a blend of theory and practical evaluation. Learners complete knowledge checks, participate in discussions, and demonstrate safe PEG feeding techniques.
The key element is a structured micro‑teach session where participants deliver a short training segment and receive feedback. Competence is judged on accuracy, clarity, safety, and overall teaching effectiveness.
5. How long is the certificate valid and do I need a refresher?
The PEG Feeding Train the Trainer certificate is valid for three years. A refresher is recommended at the end of this period to ensure trainers remain up to date with best practice, clinical guidance, and organisational compliance requirements. Regular refreshers also help maintain confidence, teaching quality, and safe PEG feeding standards across the workforce.
If you have already completed this training and are due for a refresher, please speak with our course advisors to arrange your refresher booking, or indicate this when making your reservation. The refresher course is a 1‑day programme, unlike the full 2‑day Train the Trainer course.
6. How beneficial is this training for organisations?
This training is highly beneficial for organisations because it builds reliable internal expertise, reduces long‑term training costs, and ensures consistent, compliant practice across teams. It enables faster onboarding, improves staff confidence, and strengthens patient safety by standardising PEG procedures.
Organisations also gain greater flexibility, as in‑house trainers can deliver timely, tailored sessions that meet evolving care needs and regulatory expectations.
7. Do you offer this training face to face or virtually?
The training is delivered face to face for individual learners at our national training venues. For groups, we can provide the course in‑house as either a face‑to‑face session or a virtual delivery, depending on organisational preference.
New staff often benefit more from face‑to‑face training due to the increased interaction, hands‑on practice, and immediate support available during practical elements.
8. What sets NG and PEG Train the Trainer apart?
NG Feeding Train the Trainer focuses on nasogastric tube feeding, covering safe insertion checks, troubleshooting, and monitoring risks such as displacement or aspiration. PEG Feeding Train the Trainer centres on long‑term enteral feeding via a gastrostomy, emphasising stoma care, infection prevention, and device management.
Both develop teaching skills, but the clinical procedures, risks, and practical demonstrations differ, reflecting the distinct nature of NG and PEG feeding. Since both are forms of enteral feeding, an “Enteral Feeding Train the Trainer” course will typically cover both.
9. What is the cost of group PEG feeding training and Train the Trainer?
Group PEG Feeding training and Train the Trainer pricing varies depending on several factors, including the number of staff attending, the equipment required, your location, and whether you need the full course or a refresher. Costs are tailored to each organisation to ensure the best value. For an accurate quote, our course advisors can provide a detailed breakdown based on your specific requirements.
Whether for public or group bookings, the cost includes our FREE learner resource and a 49% discount on our comprehensive trainer resource packs. These packs contain ready‑to‑use materials such as lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, delegate handouts, quizzes, activities, and certificates, covering all essential topics.
