Jennie

Clinical Trainer

My name is Jenny or Jennifer officially! Most nurses and healthcare professionals will agree that we never stop learning and I am certainly learning more and more all the time.

I qualified as a nurse in 1998 and with a passion for quality in palliative and end of life care, I completed a palliative care degree in 2003 and have been a specialist in this area of nursing since 2005.

In 2007 I completed a PGCE and have been involved in teaching palliative related topics since. After studying a master’s in 2020 I published my first research study on ‘Managing Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation conversations in the Community’ in the British Journal of Community Nursing.

I’m passionate about the topics I teach and try to make learning as interesting as possible. I am also a qualified fitness instructor but don’t worry I won’t spring into action in the lesson breaks!

Areas of expertise – managing difficult conversations, Advance Care Planning (ACP), ReSPECT, syringe drivers, Verification of Expected Death, pain and symptom control, palliative care emergencies, loss and bereavement.
