We can deliver this training at your premises, as long as it's within the UK. We can also deliver this training virtually using Zoom. However, sessions delivered via Zoom will be theory only and will not include any practicals
How long will the training last?
This training will last 2-3 hours. We give a range of time to account for variable factors such as; underlying knowledge and competence of delegates, class interaction and engagement and reduced delegate numbers. If a course finishes earlier than the allotted time, it will be due to one of these reasons. However, our trainer will ensure that all learning outcomes have been met.
Will attending this training make me competent?
In short, no. No classroom-based training course can give you full competency - be very wary of anyone claiming they can. We will be sure to provide you with the relevant workbooks and competency proformas to be observed and signed off within the workplace according to your local policy.
What equipment will you use for training?
We have a variety of different training equipment and tools available. The training will be relevant and transferable. However, if you have a specific requirement for a particular type of equipment, please make this clear during the booking process, and the team will ensure this is provided. Alternatively, we can use your own equipment for training.
Learning Disability Awareness Training
Learning Disability Awareness Training is a half-day, trainer-led course designed to help participants understand and support people with learning disabilities in the workplace and community. It explains what learning disabilities are, such as dyslexia or Down’s syndrome, and how they affect daily life, communication, and work.
The course can be paired with Equality and Diversity Awareness Training for a full-day.
This course will equip you to understand what learning disabilities are and how to support people who have them. You will learn about the different types of learning disabilities, what challenges people may face, and how to talk and listen in a way that shows respect and care.
The course also looks at how people with learning disabilities are treated by others and how small changes can make a big difference in their lives. You will take part in group talks, real-life examples, and simple activities to help you feel more confident when supporting someone with a learning disability.
We will also talk about important UK laws, like the Equality Act 2010 and the Mental Capacity Act, and how they help keep people safe. By the end of the training, you’ll know how to spot when someone may need extra help, make your workplace more friendly and fair, and speak up for people with learning disabilities in your work and community.
Learning Disability Awareness means understanding that people learn, understand things in different ways and understanding the challenges they face. It also means speaking up for their rights and making sure they get the help they need. You will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Learning Disability Awareness, endorsed by Skills for Care and CPD.
